XF86 Crashes with GeForce2 ...

I've got Athlon 1600+ with an integrated nForce chip... (Provides GeForce2) and i'm using a Mandrake 9.0, not upgraded.

I wanted install the 'nvidia' driver, so I downLoaded:

The installation works cleanly (rpm / src.rpm / tar.gz), and I edit my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:

I tried to set the options as 'Failsafe'... (But maybe not, Im a newbie

then, i type startx... and a nice black screen appears...
(the keyboard seems working, but i cant see whats happening, CRTL+ALT+F<1-6> doesn't work... )
so, I reboot with the power switch, check file system, and look at my clock ... 5h am.. :-(( thats my trird 'white night (I don't know if this French expression means anything in English, but it seams to be explicit ...
