Well, undid isn't the word as mm kernels are experimental ones, for example even if 2.6.18 is out I am still under 2.6.18-rc7-mm1 because 2.6.18 still lack a real pata/sata support for my via system.

The problem (I'd rather call it a feature or 'cleanup') got merged into 2.6.19-rc1 (NOT -mm*), so we can expect it to become part of 2.6.19 final.

I made a little patch to make it easier for everyone to use 8774 with 2.6.19-rc1 (and hopefully 2.6.19 later) and attached it. Creating an updates-thread would be a good idea I think...

Hi,

I recently made this patch for gentoo. It also checks kernel version and initializes the i2c accordingly.

Btw. the issue is still in 2.6.19-rc3 and likly to stay in the final.

Default Compiling against kernel 2.6.18/2.6.19

I've made a little step-by-step guidance for use the 87.76 driver under Fedora Core 6 with kernel 2.6.19.
