If you remove 'rhgb quiet' from your GRUB configuration (and reboot), does that help?
Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS?

Thanks,
Lonni

I am sorry, last mail was a small mistake....... My X doesn't hang when I remove my rhgb quiet but the screen goes black with a lot of white patches on the screen.... but it takes whatever I type in through my key board though I cant view what I have typed..... Thanks for you replies and looking forward to your replies......

BIOS, I will check out.......As its a new laptop I guess its should be latest BIOS, any ways Let me check it out and tell u.....I happen to check the HP web site, they do have some BIOS update but that shows for win XP and vista...... Will that affect my linux system If I install that......
