Default How to make NVIDIA GFORCE 6600 GT works on Ubuntu ?

I'm a newbie and find a lot of trouble to make my graphic card work on Ubuntu. Can anybody who owns this card tell me how to configure it?. I've tried everything editing
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

but nothing works and I have to use vesa to work on Ubuntu. Vesa means slow process and bores me to death.

please, help or I will have to change my NVIDIA for an ATI

Best regards

I have just some problems with such a card in Ubuntu 6.10. Its possible to install the newest Nvidia driver with the ENVY script:

in the german Ubuntu forum there is a thread about this card:

if you have problems with installation of Envy, please ask.

best regards svgt
