Default I jump the gun on Asus P5B Deluxe /Wifi

Well, CompUSA has it at 30% off (from $249.99 so it's not like cheap) so I bought one on Friday. Was going to wait until they go 40%, but by that time, it might be gone. Wondering how this mobo is. Anyone that has it, please tell me the pros and cons. Also, what rev is yours? Mine is 1.03G, whatever that means.

Good P5B Deluxe Threads:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=115217

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=112648

People at Xtremesystems have done very well with this motherboard. It was used to set three world records with C2D (E6600|E6400|E6300):

Edit-

You may add the current FSB WR to the P5B Deluxe's credits too: (641.37)

Great, great motherboard. Most stable, and also the best overclocker I've ever owned. Ran my FSB @ 500 24/7 without a hitch.

Well, I am waiting for the Duo 2 Core discount to take place before I will buy one, but in the mean time, I have replaced my 3200 system with this board and a cheapy Celeron D 356. I know, this is only temporary until April 22. I wonder what kind of OC I can give this Celeron D?

Default Re: I jump the gun on Asus P5B Deluxe /Wifi

The wifi card gets in the way of my power cable so I cant use the 8 pin from my psu, The front panel HD (24bit) Audio drivers/hardware are messed up so you have to use ac97 or something (Im gonna just take out all my fp leads they look a mess and I dont need them), Choose your sata ports wisely (read the manual I didn't).

I havent tried any overclocking yet till I screw a fan to the nb heatsink and can connect the 8 pin 12v connector, Not sure If I want to risk OCing with just the 4 pin, but then core2's dont use much power do they ,now im rambling.

ITS A GREAT MOBO !!!

I'm playing with it right now. Is your rev. 1.04G or 1.03G? So far I tried a little OCing but I think my CPU is the culprit as I was able to run it for overnight, but the day after, my OCing keep acting up as the BIOS says the OCing failed or something to that affect. So, I'm back to stock for now. When I finally get my Duo 2 Core in April 22, I will try OCing again. Also, my memory is crap (Buffalo Select 667) because my board keeps saying they are PC2-4300 whereas it should PC2 5300. I'm planning on getting G.Skill 2x1GB kit ($199.99 after a $10 discount) from the Egg. Many positive reviews so I hope my board will love it as well.

Does the Asus P5B Deluxe use P965 or does it use the G965 chipset? According to spec., Asus says it uses the P965 Express chipset, but I use Intel Chipset Identifier and it is saying the chipset is G965! Is program wrong or is the spec wrong?

I took off the NB Cooler and was able to verify that it indeed is the P965. Why the Intel program says it's a G965 is anyone's guess.
