I'm going as cheap as possible on the CPU since I want to possibly get a quad core within the next year.

Plus it seems like all of the current CPUs (with the same amount of cache) overclock the same, so whether I spend the extra $70 or not probably won't matter in the end.

And I think I'm going to go with this memory since its so cheap and seems to have decent timings:

My next setup will be using a set of those, an Asus P5B, and a 4Mb cache core 2 duo cooled by a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. I should be able to hit at least 3.4 or 3.5Ghz, regardless of which CPU I buy. And the temps should be as low as they get on air cooling. All of that for around $450, and I plan on selling my current CPU\mobo\ram\heatsink for around $300-$350 (its all worth around $450 new).

... if anyone is interested in my parts now, PM me just so I know. I'll be doing the whole FS\T forum thing later (as well as registering with mike) just to make it all official, but if I know for sure I can sell this stuff it'll make it a lot easier to drop such a big chunk of change on the upgrade.

Just out of interest have people forgotten that AMD exist? If K8L delivers which I hope it does I can see a load of upgrade plans being torn up.
