I think LG already has a model out but it's expensive (over $1000).

Edit: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....&type=category

It's $1200. Also, I'm not sure it's HD DVD certified (i.e. I don't think it has the HD DVD logo b/c it doesn't support all HD DVD functions -- or something like that anyway).

I think tax return might go to it, so I don't know if I care about the price so much. Even if it is not 100% HD-DVD, I still have my 360 for the off chance one doesn't work. I would rather be safe with the format wars than screwed with one format support.

It's not that the LG player has problems playing HD DVD's it's that it doesn't support the HDi interactive layer. So that means no pop-up menus to be displayed during video playback, no persistent user-defined bookmarks, no picture-in-picture/In-Movie Experience (for cast commentaries/interviews, behind the scenes footage, etc.), no calculators (example; body-count, car-insurance/damage, etc.) such as the one in TF&TF: Tokyo Drift.

Seriously though, you should do a little more research before you spend more than a grand on a crippled player.

I would not throw my money away on a hybrid player right at this moment. As the previous posts said, the price of them in additional to lack of features is not worth the $1200 easily after Tax. Either way you will end up affected by the format wars because you will be owning a form of DVD that may be obsolete 2 years from now. Running both formats is awesome though because I am not limited on my selection of movie titles in HD, I just run PS3 and 360 add-on tho

Alot of reviews say the LG is not ready for primetime. As well, I saw a BluRay player today that couldn`t fastforward thru the menus. lol It plays movies fine tho. I think I will wait for 2nd Gen stuff.
