Hello, all.
I'm having a quite annoying and hard-to-explain issue with my Viewsonic VX2025wm (ModelNo:VS10859) and my MSI NX7900GTO-T2D512E - GraphicsAdapter - GF 7900 GTO - 512 MB I am not sure if this is a monitor, gfxcard, or both-issue. But it goes something like this: Whenever the resolution, colordepth, or any other form of "mode-change" is performed (Starting games, booting, Starting X Windows, etc) - My monitor goes black. It seems to struggle to find the right way of displaying the new "mode". For example: *I run my desktop in windows at the resolution of 1680x1054. *I'll start - let's say, NFSU, which runs at a diffrent resolution by default. * The monitor goes black for a second or two * Gives me a glimpse of the intro video * Goes black again -> ... * rince & reapeat Ok, so I've figured out a way to bypass it. I can "simply" get past the issue by turning off the monitor, wait 3-5 seconds, turn it on again. This usually works. The problem with this is; A, It's not supposed to be like this. B, Turning off the monitor while it's going "on 'n off"-crazy can be a hassle. It can take up to 2 minutes to finally get it off.:-( Doing research and finding information on this issue has been hard, since I lack understanding about the terminology when it comes to graphic-cards, monitors, and such. the only thing I've come up with so far is that it's some kind of issue on how the graphic card communicates with the monitor. Basically sending some signals the monitor doesn't understand. Whether this is a bug in the monitor, or bug on the graphics card - I have no idea. The monitor is connected to the card with a DVI cable. Best regards & Thanks in advance, Tapio |
