Sax2 is a terrible mess. It has a mind of its own, does not do what you want but what it likes.
Just edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file (disregard the "PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE" at the beginning). Remove those lines that say: Modes "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1280x800" "1152x864" "1280x768" "1024x768" "1280x600" "1024x600" "800x600" "768x576" "640x480" And replace them with: Modes "1600x1200" Then try again. |

According to the bug report, you're requesting a 1280x1024 mode in xorg.conf, so that's what you're getting.
As pe1chl suggests, I'd recommend against using Yast if its not providing you with the results you desire. |

I did the Modes "1600x1200", but it still gave 1600x1024 in a weird way.
Anyway, I've had it with sax2, what is a good replacement? |

hi
Does 'nvidia-settings' detect your monitor, It did for me when nothing else worked. If does then U can change the settings there and then copy the modelines over to your xorg.config. First I had nvidia-settings write the monitor setting to the config itself but that wasn´t a good idea, better to 'preview' what is to be written and then just copy the modelines. pardon if this is a tad diffuse, Im at work on XP :-) |

There seems to be something wrong with the detection of your monitor. The best way is (and has always been) to edit xorg.conf using a text editor. Tools like sax2 are nice when they work, but become a source of frustration when something does not work as intended and it is not obvious what is going wrong. |

I'll try a few things, but somehow I think the detecting of my monitor is a bad thing, it seems to limit a lot.
The Nvidia X server settings recognizes my monitor, but doesn't let it go higher than 1600x1024 I'll try some thign again in xorg.conf, see if it works. |
