Just ran through initial tests of the new 7185 driver with the new xorg stuff coming into debian sid now, xserver-xorg-core 1.3 etc.
Results: 2.6.20.1 - 7184 installs with patches, 7185 no patches needed: perfect 2.6.20.7 - latest stable kernel 7185 installs, no patches required 2.6.21-rc7-git1 - latest kernel available: 7185 installs perfectly, no patches required. Debian sid still hasn't gotten the full xorg 7.2, still with xserver-xorg 7.1, that should be coming in soon, we'll see. Apparently there are some xorg 7.2 issues with nvidia, but the xorg team may be making a work around to handle that, we'll see how that goes. I used the hardcoding of x lib and x module paths options some days ago to avoid possible problems, that is workign fine. ATI, of course, fails completely due to xorg compatibility check error (compiled for 7.1 but finds 1.3). At this speed ati sales are going to drop to close to zero in Linux circles. Keep up the great work. |
