Default Linux Notebook LCD-Brightness settings?

Hi Users, i have a strange problem. I installed on Debian Linux "testing" the newest nvidia-driver (9755) and all (inkl. OpenGL) works well. But, I can't change the Backlight Brightness. If I switch from Powercord to Accu, then the Light dimms automaticaly to a very dark value and at daytime, I can't see a lot. I installed "nvclock". Then, if I say: "nvclock -S 50%" or something else, nvclock say: ok, value changed to my value, but the brightness doesn't change.

Has anyone any ideas?
Thanks for all your help.

Greetings, Raphael

PS: the Notebook is a HP dv9294ea with Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 (rev. 1a)

Update to the latest version of nvclock from cvs (http://www.sf.net/projects/nvclock modulename nvclock). On newer cards smartdimmer works slightly differently, it might work fine in the cvs version. Second I don't recommend to use smartdimmer it is based on an old nvclock and is less correct and compatible.

Second the correct syntax is either: nvclock -S 50, or if you want to do small increments for use with buttons: nvclock -S +10 for +10%.

I have a SAMSUNG laptop with a GeForce 7400, I tried nvclock (0.8 beta 2)
Quote:
nvclock -S 50
It returns the following message:

Smartdimmer is only supported on laptops using a Geforce 6200Go.
Thx

smartdimmer is also a standalone program.
"aptitude install smartdimmer"
It supports cards beside 6200go. Works on my 7600GT

In case of nvclock you need the latest cvs version.
