Conroe C2D Voltage?

Hi, ive been doing a bit of testing on my cpu... ive managed to get my overclocked 3.0GHz E6600 voltage down to 1.2875v and tetsted for 3 hours(for now, gonna test overnight tonight)with Orthos and came back with no errors. will lowering the voltages affect the performance of my cpu? i figure lower voltage = lower temps = longer overall lifespan... right?

1.2875v is the lowest i can get it at 3.0GHz stable with Orthos.

Heres the results.

My zalman LED aero fanmate was on the lowest setting and the cpu has AS5 applied.

Conroe C2D @ 3.0GHz @ 1.2875v.

Idle: 36c.

Orthos: 47c load max temp(using Intel Thermal Analysis Tool to read temps).

Intel Thermal Analysis Tool for 30 mins: 53c load max temp with 100% workload on both cores.

As i said will lowering the voltage affect the performance of the cpu?(i would have though not).

I believe it will only affect stability and heat. I don't see a good reason to undervolt a cpu except for reduced heat for special cases like quiet pc with passive cooling. To ensure a long life of the cpu, your best bet is to leave it at default clocks and voltage. These days, I don't think cpu life is an issue. Yesterdays top model will be next years entry level with a price to match.

Agree with the above comment. Although from what i have came across heat is not much of an issue with clock speed as is voltage.

All i want to know is will lowering the voltages affect the performance of my cpu? yes/no? ..... if not then its doing no harm if its running cooler and still stable right?

If it's stable, then I would say you're fine.

My E6600 at 3.0 GHz is stable at 1.265v (bios) CPUZ is reading 1.256v

I have my E6300 at 2.8ghz and 1.200 volts.

Damn you guys... mine is at 1.425V to remain stable at 3.02Ghz

Yet it still idles at 29C and full load 47C
