Hi all!
I have a bit annoying problem with tv-out on my GeForce7600GT card... I use driver 1.0-9755. The card has a S-VIDEO outpit for tv, but my old cheap tv only has composite connector for AV in... (accept for scart offcourse)... So i use a cable with svideo connector in one end, and compisite connector in the other end... So, I chose in the nvidia-settings utility to use separate x-screens. I edit the xorg.conf so the outputformat is correct. (Option "TVOutFormat" "COMPOSITE"). Now, this worked perfectly on my old GeForce4 4600 with a older driver version(It broke down, so i bought a new). Now with this new GPU(GF7600GT) and the new driver version(1.0-9755), this option result in that nothing is outputted to the tv. If I use SVIDEO as tvoutformat i at least get black/white picture... Is this because composite video is deprecated in the new driver, or should I file a bug-report somewhere? Last edited by slanbarn; 04-25-07 at 02:54 PM. |

look at this, I used this for BW as a solution on my 7600 GT. Signal is going on another pin. Suppose it's a bit dangerous, but at least for me it worked without damage to my card. Had to apply same for 8800GTS too...

So, okey...
If thats the only solution.... It must be something wrong... It worked with a older card and a older driver version, so something in the new driver seems to be out of place... Maybe should post a bugreport... dont know where tho :/ |

Also my new 8800GTS has the some problem, i think it's hardware thing that wont be fixed. TV and video card doesnt fit together (which is proved by the fact that I used same driver version and two different cards, and under Windows I had the same problem.), but a little hacking with the converter did the trick luckily. Anyway, bug reports are usually posted here.

Okey, so this is disapointing...
I damn the old card to hell for giving up on me then.... (!!!!!!!!!!) SO, okey.. i dont use a converter, I use a cable with two different connectors in the ends, like this: SVIDEO(video-card)-------------------------------------------------------------------------COMPOSITE(tv) maybe should buy me a converter and modify it... well, I sent a bug-report to: linux-bugs@nvidia.com stating the problem, and attached the output of 'nvidia-bug-report.sh' Hope I will get some response... |

Okey, so I got a response from nVIDIA, and here it is, I paste the whole email:
"Hello Daniel, Thanks for writing. It is interesting that the configuration you have (S-Video to Composite) actually worked with the GeForce4 4600. The driver does not support a configuration of this type. For TV Out to work via S-Video from the graphics card, the connection needs to be S-Video on both ends. Thanks, Ken Spencer NVIDIA Corporation" |

So you dont have a SCART input on your TV. Unfortunately I don't know how the previously suggested solution can be done on a SVIDEO-Composite converter cable...
