Default Graphics Card Question?

I just recently upgraded my motherboard in my be/fe machine, it is an
ASUS M2NPV-VM and has the ability to output hdtv. I have my monitor
connected to the dvi out. According to the manual I cannot have both
the hdtv and rgb out at the same time.

Question 1.

If I purchase a second card, say an evga pcie based on the GeForce
7300 chipset will I be able to use the onboard for hdtv out and the
pcie for my monitor?

Question 2.

Would I be able to use the svideo out of the evga card at the same
time as the dvi?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can use an output of your onboard card at the same time as a normal videocard.

Further a normal videocard doesn't have the limitation that you can't output to two devices at the same time. I would just use a normal videocard.

I would spend my money on Geforce 8500 board. These boards are based on the latest nvidia gpu but they are also quite cheap. The main advantage of this board over a 7300 besides that it is a bit faster in 3d, is that it features hardware h264 encoding. This feature greatly reduces cpu usage when you watch some forms of hd content. (Note that this feature isn't supported on linux yet but most likely it will be in the future)

Ok, that is what I am looking for. I want to be able to send a recorded tv program to the lcd tv and at the same time work on my computer.

I will definitely look at the 8500 based boards.

Thanks.
