Default My NVIDIA Geforce 5200 card runs slow

Hi,

I have been using my card for years and it always worked fine.
Okay, maybe I had to make some changes like removing dri form xorg.conf.
It's been a while since my last linux installation, so maybe I'm just not up to date.
I have tried everything I found to solve the problem, but it still exists.

My frame rate is a bit slow.
I did a quick 'benchmark' with glxgears to show what I mean:
1079 frames in 5.0 seconds = 215.759 FPS
1067 frames in 5.0 seconds = 213.334 FPS
1078 frames in 5.0 seconds = 215.599 FPS
1084 frames in 5.0 seconds = 216.767 FPS
1094 frames in 5.0 seconds = 218.374 FPS
1034 frames in 5.0 seconds = 206.678 FPS

I hope someone can help me.

glxgears is not a benchmark. Which real world applications are slow?

I know glxgears is not really a benchmark.
It's just because I had similar glxgears-results, when I had to disable dri or change NcAGP (this happened on FreeBSD) when I had problems the last time.

Mainly things in wine run slow. I know it is just an emulator and games often run much slower ther, but they have (like glxgears) been much faster on FreeBSD and when I used Linux the last time. Enemy Territory (and Mods) seem are also slower. They work on lower settings, but they have worked on higher settings.
I really had the same framrates when I had to remove dri or switch the NvAGP settings. I tried them all this time, but nothing worked.

I have enough RAM and there are no processes using CPU/RAM much. I don't run any eye candy applications.

No, I'm afraid that I don't have any other suggestions, this looks like its specific to your environment.

Okay, I'll report if I can solve it.
Oh BTW. I don't know, if this has anything to do with the NVIDIA driver, but sometimes when my mouse is animated (I'm using KDE) it shows some buggy Animation. Looks a bit like a PNG with Alphablending in IE 6, if you know how that looks like
