Default Mandriva 2007.0 x86_64 Base Install and 8600GTS = Hard Lock

Hi All,
I am trying to get an 8600GTS working under Mandriva 2007.0 X86_64 with the latest 100.14.03 beta drivers.

Basically I have installed a clean system (with urpmi update of all packages), xorg-x11 and then the Nvidia drivers but when ever I run startx my system hard locks with nothing more than a blank screen.

I also tried compiling the latest kernel from kernel.org but that had the same end result so i'm back to the mandriva install kernel.

Nothing seems to appear in Xorg.0.log but my Xorg.conf is attached below. I tried to test with the Xorg NV driver as well but it does not currently support the 8600GTS and results in "No Device Detected"

I'm a bit of a linux noob so any idea's or suggestions on things I can try, no matter how simple they are, would be greatly appreciated. I've been bashing my head against this for day's but can't seem to get anywhere.

I have attached a zipped bug report but I'm not sure if this will be any help as once the system locks I can't run the script. I generated the attached log before startx was run.

Thanks heaps for an help.

Running startx --log-verbose 6 from an SSH session generates the following:

Code:
[root@localhost ~]# startx -- -logverbose 6
xauth: creating new authority file /root/.serverauth.2395

I just updated the motherboard bios and I think it has fixed the issue.
