1.0-9631 is no longer supported for your GPU. Does this problem persist with 1.0-9755?

Does this reproduce if you're not using the Composite extension?
What are the steps required to reproduce this corruption?

Thanks,
Lonni

what?
then what is this in "Appendix A. Supported NVIDIA Graphics Chips" found in /usr/share/doc/nvidia-glx/README.txt.gz:
GeForce Go 6200 0x0167
?
by the way I already sent bug report to nvidia (crowleytheo@yahoo.co.uk) and you responded that you can't speculate what is causing artifacts unless I send you my laptop... I'm just posting this in hope that maybe someone else has similar problems~

- yes, it's getting worse, but let me wait now with 9631 drivers (I just reinstalled kubuntu feisty fawn to get nvidia-glx package working; they don't reinstall correctly after you have installed nvidia drivers manually)

- install kubuntu feisty fawn and nvidia-glx, then sudo nvidia-xconfig reboot and start the games you see on the picture (wolfenstein enemy territory, torcs, neverball, neverputt)

If you mean by 'Option "Composite" "Disable"' - then the answer is yes, the artifacts are still visible

on a gf 6200 go tc (Kubuntu Feisty + nvidia-glx 9631) I have the very same artifact problems you see on the very same games you tested.

To the list of games/apps showing glitches I add:

Quake4
Celestia

c.

Edit: yea I tried the last 9755 but no difference, so reverted back to the version supported by my distribution

that's nice, are you willing to ship your system to nvidia guys so they can reproduce something they haven't succeeded in reproducing so far?

The only thing I am willing to do is to switch to nouveau as soon as it is possible. I would switch to an intel gpu if this thing was not a laptop.

I have the same artifacts with an XFX 7600GT AGP on Mandriva 2007.1 (cooker - the development version), under enemy-territory. It seems this was fixed in 97xx, but I get random hard locks with 9746/9755 drivers, but not (it seems) with 9631, with enemy-territory. EDIT: I actually get the hardlocks with 9631...

I created a thread to report my issue over there: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=87058
but someone pointed me to this current thread so now I'll comment this issue here.

I can 100% reproduce the texture artifacting in neverball and doom3 on my dell xps with Go7400(64M) and core2duo, both with 32bit and 64bit 2.6.20 kernel+userland and 1.0.9755. I cannot reproduce the bug on the asus w7j with Go7400(128M) and core duo. Artifacting disappears when going back to 2.6.19, and comes back with 2.6.20. Artifacting is present with 1.0.9631 to 1.0.9755 drivers. Didn't try previous ones nor beta, and didn't try 2.6.21 kernel but looking at the changelog, upgrading is not likely to fix it.

2.6.21 did not fix it.

nVidia, you said you can only speculate on the cause. then, please do so and provide us with something that would help us give you the information you need. I am obviously not able to send you my laptop since I use it for work, but I'm willing to help. I will test any kernel patch/driver you will provide me, or even provide you ssh access to my machine.

BTW, lloeki have you tried 1.0-9629 drivers? (they don't give artifacts for me)

###EDIT###

nevermind, the fix has been found
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=91641
make sure that your remove nvidia-kernel-common with "purge" option
