Default Black screen after driver install

I had thought I had done everything correctly but now I just get a black screen where the login should be. I'm not exactly what to do next but if someone has any ideas that would be great.

I'm using:
Kubuntu 7.04
Kernel 2.6.20.16-generic
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz
eVGA 8600 GT

I had followed the instructions on the driver page but one thing that was missed was the libc headers requirement if the script needs to rebuild. It took me a little bit but the package I needed to install was "libc6-dev" which wasn't clear from the error message. Once I got that it built and configured xserver just fine without error.

Thanks,

Patrick

Just to follow up, once I got beta drivers that support the 8600 things went smoothly. The next thing I wanted to try was a 64-bit kernel and drivers. That was a different story and will go in a different post.

Thanks very much for the drivers and the help.
