Hi... I'm a totally new Linux user, and I'm using Ubuntu.
But my problem is that i can't install the driver from the nvidia website website. If i follow the instructions at the download-page and write "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run" I get the answer "sh: Can't open NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkgl.run". And of course i did some research, at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/n...i=&p_topview=1 And if i follow the instructions at that page, i get the answer "sudo sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run --extract only Verifying archive integrity... OK Uncompressing NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86 1.0-9755.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................. ./nvidia-installer: unrecognized option `--extract' Invalid commandline, please run `./nvidia-installer --help` for usage information." Ask if you need more info, and i will do my best to answer I really hope somebody can help me. Cheers from Morten, Denmark |

Code:
sh: Can't open NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkgl.run
Should be 1, not l -----------------^
Code:
sudo sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run --extract only
Should be -, not space ------------^

When you research info you might check the date of it. The info you reference is dated 11/04: ancient history in LinuxLand.
Best method in Ubuntu is to install ENVY; available in Synaptic Package Manager. It will take care of the whole business for you. Good luck. |
