Default Installing mx440 drivers on fedora 7 help!

Hi, im pretty new to linux and have just installed fedora 7 and now want to get drivers for my card going. I have a agp gf 4 mx440 with 64 mb. So reading tutorials I went to the nvidia website and downloaded the freebsd drivers. Through experimenting with all the drivers on the site and all the help i could find on google i narrowed down the right drivers to my card as NVIDIA-FreeBSD-x86-1.0-9639.tar.gz. I downloaded the drivers extracted them and followed the instructions.
This is where i am stuck. I go to shell, get root access and type make install andi get the following error "Makefile:20: *** missing separator. Stop." does anybody know what i am doing wrong? prehaps i missed some steps before this, any feedback would be appreciated, thanx

Why are you trying to install a FreeBSD driver in Linux?

my mistake, i just downloaded the Linux IA32 drivers but i am still having problems. Both of the available drivers say they are not compatible with my kernel and they want to update it. After the search for the update on the nvidia ftp they find none and want to update it manually using gcc, i tried to yum install gcc but that doesnt work either, am i even installing the right drivers now? - NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9639-pkg1.run

I'd suggest reading the forum's sticky posts.
