Default Asus NE8600GT: DVI Low RES

I don't know how to setup my new Asus NE8500GT SIL to run on DVI output. Im using Kubuntu 7.04 (fresh installation) and installed the newest NVIDIA drivers 100.14.09 (with envy 0.95). My monitor is a Benq FP93G+.

The installation itself seems to be fine. Everythig works fine with analog connection. But if I change to the desired DVI connection, I can only get a resolution of 640x480 (automatic mode) and with strong manipulations I can reach 800x600 (manual override).

If I check the Xorg.0.log, I see the following error:
(WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Unable to read EDID for display device DFP-0

So the driver cannot build up a mode-pool. If I do the hard way setting up a manual resolution with the following parameters, I still can't get more than 800x600. Its really strange!

Modeline "1280x1024" 108.0 1280 1328 1440 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066
Option "ModeValidation" "AllowNon60HzDFPModes,NoEdidMaxPClkCheck,NoVertRef reshCheck,NoHorizSyncCheck,NoDFPNativeResolutionCh eck,NoVesaModes,NoEdidModes,NoXServerModes,NoPrede finedModes"
Option Option "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "TRUE"

It seems that the NVIDIA linux driver is the weak point: On a Windows XP with latest NVIDIA Drivers [158.22, 17.5.2007], everything went fine: Analog or DVI connection is at resolution 1280x1024. BUT NOT IN LINUX.

Please someone help me out of this problems.

Thanks in advance :-)
