Default 32-Bit NVidia driver faster than 64-Bit on X2!?!

i use a NVidia 6100 on Board card and i have a problem with the performance.
I know this card isn't the fastest but i wonder why the 32-Bit NVidia driver is
faster than x86_64 Driver on a X2 3800 MHz.
When i run glxgear from Slax Live CD with 32-Bit Nvidia Beta driver i get
over 1500 fps and with 64-Bit NVidia with Bluewhite64 Live i get only 800 fps.
Could anybody tell me whats wrong? Why is the 32-Bit Driver faster than
the 64-Bit one?

glxinfo is not a benchmark. The difference in framerate could be due to any number of factors other than the driver.

yes, i know. I asked myself about the reason. Both OS are based on Slackware, one with Kernel 2.6.20.1 the other with 2.6.21.1, both running KDE 3.5.x at the same resolution. So, i do not have any idea.
glxgears only shows 3D fps - maybe the 2D on the 64-bit is faster but 3D slower?

sure, but there must be something wrong.
I have tested sdlmame64 on X2/3800 (Nvidia 6100) and sdlmame on my Duron 1200 (FX5200). On my Duron 1200 sdlmame runs 3times faster in opengl mode

If you're experiencing a performance problem with a real world application or game (and not glxgears), then I'd suggest reading the forum sticky posts, and then documenting how to replicate the problem.

ammi....

Use LiveCDs.

One CD will be 32-bit with your test app (sdlmame?).

The other CD will be 64-bit with the same test app (sdlmame64?).

Take screenshots. Take FPS averages. Use a benchmark mode.... something.

nVidia needs more information to diagnose the issue (if there is one).

Are you sure that sdlmame in 64bit mode uses the same optimizations as sdlmame in 32 bit mode? (simd, jit, etc.)

I think it was my fault. I compiled the nvidia module and copied the libraries aso. to my HD, but i've forgotten to set some library links to my 64-Bit libs directory. Now it works fine.
The 64-bit Live CD with sdlmame64 is about 10% faster than the 32-Bit Live CD with Nvidia 32-bit. I think this is an acceptable result.
