Heres what I got cooking. I have a BFG Geforce MX 4000 running on an asus p5pe-vm and a d805. I decided it was time to see what Fedora Core6 could do beside Folding for Stanford..
Somebody said Nexiuz was a pretty cool looking game that was free for Linux. I installed that and the game would spaz once per second. Then somebody mentioned I need the proprietary drivers from nvidea. Thats what brought me here. Its not easy finding the correct driver package for a mx 4000 since it isn't listed on the find-a-driver page. No MXs for that matter. I used the correct command line supplied on the download page and the result was an error saying I appeared to be running an x-server blah blah blaah install aborted. Then I tried to get some info from the installers log and it said permission is denied. I'm in the root account, permission? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any

Shutdown the gui, check if the command to do it is "init 3".

I moved the driver into the home directory without any folders. Then I went into non-gui-land after typing init 3. Then I typed in the sh-NVIDIA...command, the install started and says I am missing a development tool CC or GCC and I need to make sure I have that in my path.
I haven't a clue what that means.

The installer wants to "link" together its program, to do that requires gcc - the GNU Compiler Collection. Install gcc through your FC6 package manager.
