my apology, I did not write the correct file name in my last post, since then I edited the post and corrected the file name. I had my box with 128 MB Ram before and then I added 2 Ram trays from another computer I had which I did not need. the total Ram now is 196 MB. not sure whether that could cause a problem or not.

no over clocking.

the md5sum command works good with any file on my Linux file system but it does not work right with ntfs mounted /dev/hda1 /mnt/w2k. I think I better find out how to get this file downloaded from the ftp site into my linux partition first. that might fix the problem.

Oh, hehe. That makes more sense then.

You don't have to download directly to your Linux drive, you should be able to use cp to copy the file over from NTFS to Linux. It's something like cp /mnt/ntfsdrive/NVIDIA* ~, where you have to replace ntfsdrive with whatever directory you used to mount it, and (possibly) add any other path elements needed, if you didn't save it in your root directory. ~ is a shortcut for "my home directory", so look in /home/<username> for the file.
