Default Re: Nvidia slower after resuming from suspend to RAM

The performance issue after resume from suspend to RAM is a known issue with internal bug report #331421. The fix will be verified and included in the next driver release.

To clarify: the problem we identified affects GeForce 8 series GPUs; future driver releases should resolve this problem. I don't believe we've been able to reproduce similar slowdowns with older GPUs.

This is definitely wrong. I had a geforce 6600gt, and now I have a 7300gt, and both of them are affected by these slowdowns after suspend.

The only thing that I found to avoid these slowdowns is setting hibernate scripts to switch to another vt before and after suspend.

zander, RolandH: Thanks for your answers. I'm glad to hear this will be fixed in the next version.

emisca: it looks like your issue is different as mine. In my situation, the hibernate script always switch vt during suspend, but that doesn't solve the slowdown problem. From the positive point of view, at least you have a way to prevent the slowdown.

Yes, but I've some other problems with drivers > 8776. vt always don't work after suspend to ram. I had opened another thread for this some time ago, and other people reported similar problems.... (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...ghlight=resume http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=94247 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...ghlight=resume)

In conclusion, I stick with 8776 driver, with the forced console switch. It works 100% of the time even mixing suspend 2 ram and suspend 2 disk cycles. But this is a bit bad, because I can't get the new improvements of the newer drivers (texture from pixmap support....).

Bye
