Default GLSL support in indirect rendering

Hello,

I'm trying to run GLSL application from remote machine (using
indirect rendering) and it fails to get the shading language extention.
Every thing works fine locally.
I'm using Quadro FX5500/PCI/SSE2 using NVIDIA 97.55 driver (CentOS 3.8).
What is the status for supporting shading lang in indirect rendering?
(and other OpenGL 2.1 ext)

Thanks
Amir

Lots of opengl extensions aren't supported in case of remote GLX I think due to bandwidth related reasons. If you really need GLSL and don't need the performance use the latest version of Mesa but it will be very slow.

There's also a possibility that VirtualGL (see virtualgl.org) works but I haven't tried it. From what I remember about it is that it lets the videocard of the client machine perform the 3d rendering. I think its performance should be acceptable as it was even able to play games like quake3 at reasonable performance. The requirement is that your program directly links to libGL.so as it depends on LD_PRELOAD.

Thanks for the info Thunderbird.

My main questions relate to missing support in nvidia driver
for GLSL function in indriect rendering (using GLX).
With OpenGL 2.x spec support for GLSL is in the core.
What is the status of this support when it comes to remote
rendering / indirect rendering using GLX.

Thanks
Amir
