Default Quake III graphics bug with 7600GS?

Just did a clean install of Feisty and updated everything. Driver 1.0-9361, no overclock, card is running at 54c loaded so it isn't heat...

Only happens in areas with fog and is very angle dependent, running Q3A at 1280x1024, vsync on, all settings maxed, no AA/trilinear.

Do you see this with 100.14.11, as well?

Haven't tried that driver yet, was being lazy and using the restricted drivers tool in the system menu.

After wading through several messy things in Ubuntu I grabbed the latest FC and then udpated drivers, all works fine now.

Xbob, 90 FPS ?????

My PC is a desktop HP Pavilion, CPU AMD64 4200+, nVidia GeForce 7600GS, Linux Slackware11, driver nVidia 100.14.11, kernel 2.6.22 SMP compiled by me ... and Quake III Arena at 1280x1024, 32 bpp, High Quality, runs at 500 FPS (average speed)!

Perhaps, your kernel is not properly configured?

He would have "com_maxfps" (or similar) set to 90.

That was a default Ubuntu install, since trashing that and moving to FC7 with the 100.14.11 drivers I have comparable performance to yours. There was something very wrong with that Ubuntu install, although I didn't do much to fix it as I was not impressed with the current build.
