I wanted to buy an nVidia dual-head card and the GPU has changed to the GeForce FX for both Asus and MSI, so I went to nvidia to make sure there would be Linux drivers. I'm slightly biased toward the Asus/nvidia since that's also my motherboard's configuration and I'm very satisfied with that, and also the Asus graphics card seems to have higher resolution/refresh rates.
But everything I've found in this forum on the GeForce FX 5200 seems to be a nightmare. Would I do better to shop ebay for a GeForce TI4200? Or wait and hope the 2.60 kernel will include the GeForce FX 5200/5600?

Well, you won't get FX support in kernel 2.6. The problem with the FX5200 isn't "drivers not working", it's "the card's just too blasted slow", IIRC.
Personally, I'd stick with the 4200 until the NV35 gets released (and perhaps even longer, it depends on the ratio of price to performance increase and when Doom 3 comes out ), but that's just me.Asus should still be selling 4200's. They may not be advertising them on their site, but I'm sure you'd be able to find them if you went to somewhere like www.newegg.com and looked around for a bit.
