CopyPixels hardware support
We're in the process of determing suitable graphics cards to be used for our Real-time visual simulation of an InfraRed sensor running on Fedora Core 6 or 7 Linux system.
One of things that the graphics card needs to have is hardware accelerated OpenGL features. One of the important things is that the OpenGL pixel transfer operations applied during glCopyPixels are done in the hardware. These features are used by our software to produce brightness and contrast effects, as well as Automatic Gain and Level.
So do your GeForce cards support glCopyPixels with pixel transfer functions in hardware?
I would really appreciate any help with this.

glCopyPixels is for sure done in hardware but I don't know if the pixel transfer options are still in done in hardware. I guess they are done in software if they are still supported. The reason is that things like this can easily done using a fragment shader.
I would use FBOs (framebuffer objects) and a fragment shader. The result if still needed can then easily put in a texture as an FBO can output to it. You wouldn't need glCopyPixels anymore. Perhaps you can directly use a fragment shader without having a need to readback. (Fragment shaders are great for postprocessing)
So I think that your program is using legacy GL operations and that it should be ported over to modern GL functionality. This functionality works fine on Geforce6 cards and higher. (even on older GeforceFX cards but I'd recommend a Geforce6 or higher).
