Default How Can I Exit X??

I'm a newbie in Linux.
Im using Mandrake 9.1, and i'm trying to install the new 4363 driver because with the default driver i can't enable 3D aceleration and play games smoothly...
The domumentation that comes with the driver says:
"you should set your default run level so you will boot to a
vga console and not boot directly into X" I've been consulting the documentation
that came with my Linux distribution and I have not found how to do that.

Components:
Card: GF3 ti200 128Mb
Mobo: Epox 8k3a+

Excuse me for my bad English.

Edit /etc/inittab, replace this line
id:5:initdefault:
with this
id:3:initdefault:

Now either reboot, or (recommended) press Ctrl+Alt+F1, log in as root, and say
init 3

When you are finished, restore the original inittab contents and say
init 5
as root.

Default Oh, I forgot it's Mandrake.

When you configure X in Mandrake, the last thing it asks is "do you want to start X automatically at startup" or somesuch. You can try to answer "no".
