Sub-normal performance on new rig...

I was really happy 'cause i had finally replaced my old 939 system, and when i runned some benchs, i noticed that my 3dmark results are way on the lower side of similar systems, according to futuremarks orb. (around 8400 points in 3dmark 06 with standard settings).

Can anyone advice me on how to improve? Im running this tests on a fresh install of windows vista ultimate 64 bits and with last whql approved video driver. My rig has:

Athlon 64 x2 6000+ at 3.0 Ghz
Asus MN32SLI DELUXE
4 x 1GB ddr2 800 Patriot
BFG 8800 GTS 640 MB at stock frequencies
160GB Sata Hitachi 7200rpm

Thats normal.

The only way you will get a higher number is by overclocking your video card, getting a C2D and run it a 3ghz or higher, and use windows xp.

Nothing Sub-normal about that score at all.

Well, i've seen people on futuremark orb with the same rig getting 9.500-10.000. No cpu overclock there 'cause the orb measures megahertz and not cpu model.

Then, putting the cpu out of the equation, wich other factors dou you think have to do with this results?

Video card overclocking? Ram overclocking? Hard drive speed?

i get just over 9000 and my CPU is 500MHz slower than yours and my ram is only running at 310...vista is slowing you down i get about 10% drop in score if i install it.

That's exactly what i was talking about...

but the people tha i was comparing myself to in futuremark orb also used vista.

Any other opinions?
