Default Dri enabled by default?

I run the new nvidia drivers with xorg 1.4 on gentoo and I believe it was either the xorg or nvidia update that gives me this in xorg

(II) "dri" will be loaded by default.

whats the deal? Do we use dri with nvidia or not?

The new server loads the dri module by default, whether the driver needs it or not. It should be harmless. IIRC, the syntax to get rid of it is Disable "dri" in the "Module" section of xorg.conf.

Thats what Ive always done in Debian but it doesnt work in gentoo, it says that its loading it anyway, and what concerns me right now is that I have for the past day or two been getting hard lockups when I open konqueror, its not every time but approximately every 12th time I open konqueror the computer locks and I either have to reboot or it reboots on its own.
