Default Microsoft Gaming Receiver for windows problem

Hello anyone here use a Microsoft Gaming Receiver for windows in Vista? I having a problem with my Microsoft Gaming Receiver for windows and vista. I am trying to connect a Xbox 360 wireless controller to the Microsoft Gaming Receiver in vista. but it doesnt connect, the ring of lights on the controller just keep flashing. But the thing is i have dual boot system with XP and the Microsoft Gaming Receiver and the Xbox 360 wireless controller connects under XP. I installed the newest update and the Vista update and it still dont connect, anyone care to help thanks!

you do know you have to press the button on receiver?

yes, you have to press the small button that allows the controller to search for the device to connect to.

Yea, lol i did that. Finnaly i said screw this i was going to take back to walmart for refund. So i uninstalled the driver software in vista, and rebooted and the damn thing work! lol silly vista

oh another question, where did you install the software from?

DON'T USE THE CD! WHAT EVER YOU BUY, NEVER USE THE CD, changes are that cd is at least couple versions behind.

CD that comes with the receiver IS NOT VISTA COMPATIBLE.

you have to get the new version from MS website.

Yep, it works perfectly with latest driver update, in both XP and Vista. Got an Elite black controller and it rocks for all non-shooter, non-strategy games.

BTW, I also got a black play & charge kit, when I connect it to a USB port to charge the battery, it's detected as an unknow device by both XP and Vista, and I can't find a driver for it. I know it's not needed, the gamepad works wireless with no problems, but I don't like those unknown device icons on my tray.
