Exclamation Not able to set 1280*720 Resolution on LCD-TV

Hello

I have a nVidia Corporation G71 [GeForce 7900 GT/GTO] gfx card with latest nvidia drivers. I have my main Monitor connected via DVI and a LCD-TV connected via VGA cable to my Computer. For some reasons i can not set the HDTV Resolution of 1280x720 to my LCD-TV. Does anyone have similar Problems or a Solution for that? Any help would be highly appreciated.

I would recommend reading some other threads on the forum. There are tons of people with problems like that. And there is a standard procedure to report problems, as well.

i have searched the forum, nothing fits my describtion tho.
Here is my nvidia-bug-report.log attached.

From what i can read out of x.log and edid is that my card thinks that my lcd-tv cant do the resolution (which it can tho).
Handbook says it can do 1280*720 with 44.8 kHz horizonal and 60Hz vertical.

Under Windows i can activate the resolution, but since i dont use windows so much, besides for gaming thats no solution.

Anyone got a solution for that?

Yeah...

Put
ModeLine "1280x720_60" 74.5 1280 1336 1472 1664 720 721 724 746 -hsync +vsync

In your Monitor section in your xorg.conf file

and
Option "ModeValidation" "AllowNon60HzDFPModes, NoEdidMaxPClkCheck, NoMaxPClkCheck, NoHorizSyncCheck, NoVertRefreshCheck, NoEdidDFPMaxSizeCheck"

under your nvidia device section of your xorg.conf file

Also, add 1280x720_60 in the modes line of your screen section.

You might not need all those options, like the clock checking ones, but I had the same problem. I think it's a problem with the EDID reporting of certain video output devices...

oki i have tried that, unfortuneally it doesn work very well :/

I can set the resolution now, but i only see 1/5 of the screen black and the other is white with black vertical gfx buglike stripes in it. No trace of the Desktop colors or the Desktop itself, only in the first second i get a glimpse at the nvidia logo which instantly disappears in favor of the "bug screen".

I managed to blindly make a Screenshot of the Desktop on Screen 1, which looks normal, but it wont get displayed :/
