Default Composite + offscreen mplayer = Xid + panic

I've just discovered an issue with mplayer and composite X (happens both with compiz or just plain xcompmgr)

- Using mplayer (it happens with -vo xv, x11, and even caca, it does not happen with -vo gl however) to play any video.

- Move the mplayer window to either the top left or top right of the screen, so that part of the window is offscreen.

- Press 'q' to quit mplayer.

X then will lock up for a little while, and then screen goes blank. And eventually I think it gets into a kernel panic, as I see the caps lock light starts blinking.

If I use MagicSysRq+K to kill X quickly after the lock up or the blank screen, I could get the system back. dmesg reveals this:

NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 13, 0000 01013900 00000039 00000328 00000000 00000080
NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 30, L1 -> L0

Thanks.
