I have so very nearly cloned my monitor to TV. I have been trying for a week.
I have a GeForce 7600GT and run Ubuntu Gutsy. I have an NEC MultiSync 75f monitor and a UK PAL TV. The TV image is flickering too much. The colour might not be there but that could just be due to the flicker. Some of my failed xorg.confs booted in failsafe ("vesa" driver) mode where the monitor and TV screen were in perfect unison but I could only have 640x480 so surely it must be possible. I need my monitor to be on 1280x1024. I would be very grateful if someone can help my diagnose my xorg.conf. Many thanks in advance... Quote:

Clone mode means that the same image is shown on your TV and normal monitor AT the same resolution. If the resolutions are not the same the image is NOT scaled, so if the monitor is at 1280x1024 and the TV at 640x480 you only see a small part of the image from the monitor on your TV.

Okay, well it looked like it was a correct sized image on the TV and it was just the flicker that was the problem. Are you able to help me make a new xorg.conf that will achieve what I want?

The easiest thing to do is to use nvidia-settings with the option DynamicTwinview turned on in your xorg.conf. Use nvidia-settings to set up the configuration you want and let it output a config file.

I have tried a few things but it is still not working. I switched of clone and put the screen to the TV to 'right of' but this isn't what I want. It means the screens are split. In terms of the size of the screen it seemed better when I was using clone
Anyway the main problem is still with the flicker and lack of colour. I tried nvidia-xconfig --dynamic-twinview but that didn't seem to change anything. I realise these whiny forum posts are annoying but I have tried so many xorg.confs over the last week that I would really appreciated it if someone could take a look at my xorg.conf and make some direct suggestions. Many thanks current xorg.conf: Quote:
