I'm using Fedora 8 DVD
kernel 2.6.23.1-42.fc8-i686 NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.01 Desktop: Asus A7V8X-X AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 512M RAM 120G HD Generic NVidia MX 440 w/AGP 8x I disables SELinux, turned off firewall and and changed init level to 3 before compiling. I installed the proper header files from DVD. I did have to use the --kernel-source-path option to tell it where the headers are. I am presently unable to get it on the internet since I have a Win-modem (I do have an external but don't want to bother with it.) I used this same driver under Fedora 7 DVD without a problem. nvidia-installer.log.zip is attached update: I tried the same media in my Dell laptop: Inspiron 8600 Pentium M 1.4 GHz 256M RAM 60 G HD NVidia Go 5200 w/32M In that system it all worked fine so It looks like the problem is with Fedora 8 itself not liking the AMD Athlon XP. I'll now take the problem up with fedoraproject.org Last edited by ProfTheory; 11-28-07 at 07:41 AM. |
