It's going to be announced in maybe early 2008 or maybe summer. But we're not working on current or last gen, it's next-gen and PC.

I don't have much faith though when they deal with crap engines like that one from Tomb Raider...might as well shake a stick at it now. If they also want to deal with new technology and stay in the AAA games.

I don't know what they are thinking but, any tomb raider engine within the last 5 years has not been on the ground-breaking level.

The engine of Crystal Dinamics is the Project: Snowblind engine .

Curious

Quote:
In development the game was originally intended as a spin-off to the Deus Ex series of games, and the working title was "Deus Ex: Clan Wars". Eidos decided to change the name and storyline after seeing the market response to Deus Ex: Invisible War.

Deus Ex 3 to be a Prequel?
Did Eidos let the cat out of the bag with a suspicious video edit?
By Mark Whiting, 12/05/2007

File this one squarely in the "conjecture" bin, but CVG has an interesting bit of analysis up at the moment which could shed some light on the direction of the new Deus Ex game might be heading.

The rumor in question concerns alterations made to a recent Deus Ex 3 teaser trailer (viewable here) recently unveiled by Eidos' Montreal studios.

During the teaser's blink and you'll miss it" rapid-fire image sequence, the teaser in question definitely shows a hand inserting a checked card into a ballet box with the phrase "Biopolitic 2027" stenciled predominantly on the side. Die hard Deus Ex fans will recognize this date as being significantly earlier than both the original Deus Ex (which took place in the 2050s) and Deus Ex 2: Invisible War (which took place 20 years later in the 2070s). More suspiciously however, the teaser video has apparently been re-edited since its release by Eidos to remove the indemnifying date. Hmm. Conspiracy?

Either way, the guys over at Eidos are keeping mum on the subject -- which is just as well considering the other things they have on their mind right now.

We spoke recently to the guys behind Deus Ex 3, but sadly they were reticent to provide any details whatsoever about the anticipated sequel's plot. Guess there's plenty of time for scrounging out secrets when you're holed up in the basement frame-by-framing your way through videos and wearing a tinfoil hat.
Interesting...
