Default Installation fails: Nvidia 7182 PKG.run on SUSE 10.3

Hi there !

I tried hard to get the NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86 1.0-7182 installed on SUSE 10.3.

I goolged a lot and found out that there were patches for those drivers for SUSE 10.1 which fix the "cannot determine kernel-version - problem".
I've got the same problem now.
The kernel-source directories are correctly detected, no effect by using option --kernel-source-path
Please see the attached installer-log.
Must I downgrade to SUSE 10.1 or lower to get my TNT2 working?

any ideas?
thanks

Default Re: Installation NVIDIA 7182 PKG.run on SUSE 10.3

I tried the same installer on Suse 10.1 and everything works fine.

It seems, that the installer gets confused from the new buiild-directory-feature.
Ive tried to merge the content of the builddirectory back to the source files but

Possibly there were more files moved to new places since suse 10.1?

Its a shame, but there seem to be no other way installing the old legacys than using the installer. Of course I dont really know which files the Installer is looking for and where.

Can I force suse 10.3 to get back to the oldfashioned diretctorystructures ?

Thumbs up Re: Installation NVIDIA 7182 PKG.run on SUSE 10.3

found several postings about that problem:
the 7182 Package is simply not running on the kernels of SUSE 10.3.

But there is a very new driver:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._71.86.01.html

That one works on my machine. Now idea how those german guys found that driver.
Surfing on Nvida.com there is no hint to that...

anyway.. have fun with 3D.
