Default Re: NVIDIA Xen 3.0 Patch for driver 100.14.11

Hi!

I just had a look at the patch: it includes left-overs from
the unified xen/rt patch concerning the -rt part that are not any
more necessary with recent NIVDIA drivers and Linux kernels:

PAT support can fully stay enabled with -rt, because the cache
flushing is today not done by a high latency causing "wbinvd"
instruction but by a series of individual cache line flushing
instructions. So the two occurances of CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT
can be deleted, resulting in slightly better 3D performance.

regards

Bernhard

This is good, as it indicates that under some circumstances the driver will work with Xen. What things are holding back support for Xen?

As Xen gains popularity, I think this will become more important.

Have you had any progress on this? I have a Fedora 8 machine that would very much like faster graphics. :-)

zander, thanks. You made my day.
If anyone still needs a step by step this is how I did it.

# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.1 (Tikanga)
# uname -a
Linux sponge 2.6.18-53.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Oct 10 17:06:12 EDT 2007 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
# cd /usr/src/kernels/$(uname -r)-$(uname -m)
# mkdir include2
# cd include2
# ln -s /usr/src/kernels/$(uname -r)-$(uname -m)/include/asm-i386 asm
# cd ~
# export IGNORE_XEN_PRESENCE=1
# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1.run

Hey, guys. I'm attempting to use Xen 3.1 on Ubuntu Gutsy x86_64 with Intel VT hardware acceleration.

I seem to be experiencing the same problems as anyone else with the nVidia driver being the problem. Is there any workaround for Ubuntu users, and if not, is there an expected date of fix from nVidia?

I've seen bug reports on launchpad.net (which is what redirected me here), but I see little success getting the driver to work.
