twinview resolution problem on Fedora 8 with FX5700 Ultra chipset

We develop professional air traffic control applications which need to work on dual screen at 1600x1200 for each screen.

We have both older PC based on Intel 865G (ICH5) and FX 5700Ultra and newer based on RS480/Geforce 7600 chipset.

For the actual release we use FEDORA CORE 3 and 9746 nvidia driver which works well for twinview 1600x1200 on two Samsung Syncmaster 204b (we have just noticed a performance loss for more recent 97xx drivers).

Because our systems need more performances, we are evaluating FEDORA 8, but we have noticed that nvidia linux drivers don't compile at v < 100.14.19. We have performed these tests :

1 - We have tried our previous reliable Xorg.conf configuration file (twinview with 1600x1200 with fixed metamodes) on ICH5/FX 5700 hardware : one screen goes blank, the other is correct.

2 - Starting from scratch with nvidia-settings application, we got an automatically generated xorg.conf with "nvidia-auto-select" parameters for both flat panels in metamode options : We have only 1280x1024 (auto/max) resolution for DFP0, and 1600x1200 (auto/max) for DFP1;

3 - On newer configuration based on RS480/Geforce 7600 chipset, there is absolutly no problem : both Syncmaster 204b reach 1600x1200. We have also tried a synmaster 204b and a NEC touchscreen with no problem.

4 - On Another workstation settled up for air traffic control applications based on older hardware on FC3, we have upgraded nvidia driver from 1.0-9746 to 100.14.19 : we have noticed the same problem at start, 1st flat panel goes blank, the other is OK.

We have tried 100.14.19, 100.14.23 and beta 169.04 drivers with same result : False EDID informations detected for one screen with max resolution < flat panel capabilities. We are even wondering why no EDID informations are available when monitor is in standby mode.

We are completly stucked by this problem. As there is no real support from nvidia, I hope that this problem will be reported to a nvidia engineer via this forum...
