Default 169.04 vs 100.14.19 : new version numbering scheme?

hello nvidia guys,

did you decide to change the numbering scheme again?
is there any sort of meaning to us end users behind those numbers, or is it purely for internal tracking?

I seems like the scheme of the new version number is somehow related to the scheme for the Windows driver. By the way, ATI/AMD did just the same for their latest beta driver release. In my dreams, this means they are going to make equal quality drivers for both OSes. But I'm just a dreamer

The left-most field will indicate the major release series ("Release 100", Release "105", etc.). The second field and optional third or additional fields will be used for NVIDIA tracking.
the bold part was the part I missed thanks zander.
