Cheers,
I'm with Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 1 + Updates on Kernel 2.6.24 amd64. Since the current 'nvidia-glx-new' package has unmet dependencies I will have a try to nvidia beta-driver. I downloaded the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-169.07-pkg2.run, uninstalled old 'nvidia-glx-new', 'nvidia-kernel-common' and 'restricted-modules-generic', run 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop', switched to tty1 and run the installer via SH (log is in attachement). The installer does it's thing without any warning or error. Finally I rebooted my OS, but it doesnt start up XServer. The output on screen is: Quote:
Any ideas? Kind regards. Maik Masling |

(no rule to create target ... dependant by ... exit) I tried it with linux-sources-... , too and created a link to 'linux' - Same thing, except that 'make prepare' works withound an error, but nvidia-installer still claims for make oldconfig && make prepare. I don't know how to go on, please help. |

Ha, i got it working myself. I did the hole process AGAIN after reading the thread that mentiones to uninstall nvidia-glx-new, linux-restricted-modules-common etc. nvidia-installer.log still has got the same error message about make oldconfig && make prepare, but this time XServer loads properly with the new driver. Thanks for your help
