It's its entire own experience, and losing my saves before I could finish absolutely ruined it all for me.

I eventually (as of about 2 weeks ago) finally worked up the care to start it all over again (2900xt Crossfire, Q6600 @ 3.51ghz). Only to find that this once more retarded piece of crap now refuses to work with Crossfire enabled (tried every driver in existence that supports it in Crossfire, it aint working). So I give up, stupid game.
There is a patch for the savegame issue that you speak of and its not the games fault if Crossfire doesn't work right with it.

Its related to sound rather than AI on the systems that have the slow down problems. On tracks with lots of cars its nearly unplayable, especially when they are all driving close to you. The single car rally races run fine. If you disable your sound card in device manager the game runs smooth regardless of the number of opponents.

It runs fine on my current system though.

It might be a different issue then because with v1.21 and the latest XFI/OpenAL drivers (XP 32bit) I'm using the full OpenAL settings inside the game without any noticlable problems. Back in the summer I've had a lot of sound issues with Dirt incl. crashes and it ran a lot more stable in "software mode" but a few days ago I've finished the whole campaign without any problem except the rare slowdowns that I mentioned before.

The game is a blast with a G25+TrackIR and since it runs so much more stable now and I'm a huge fan of the full Pikes Peak stage with the powerful hillclimbing cars.

Yeah, I don't have any problems on my system with my X-Fi either. I did in the demo (using the same card) on my Athlon X2 system though.

My brother still has the problems on his system and he uses an Athlon X2 and an xplosion sound card. Disabling his sound card fixes all the problems.

I loved it for the most part, especially the buggy races. The physics in the buggy and 4x4 truck races really made the game work for me,the rally cars not so much.Good game but buggy as heck.PATCH 1.2 REQUIRED
