i'm glad i'm deaf so i dont need audio or crap.

video is all i care about but kinda sucks at same time because i'm missing half of goodies (sound effect and ****).

Get a real nice sub, one that goes down to 12hz. You can still enjoy it! A lot of action movies have extremely low LFE that your whole body will FEEL.

Forget the sub, get a bass shaker like a buttkicker. A real one that you mount to your couch or hard floor, not the gamer one (unless you watch TV using an office chair.) For $200, that will give you much better ultra low frequency effects than even a thousand dollar sub will. Die hard HT enthusiasts usually combine these with a good sub, but he wouldn't need the sub at all.

Don't own any myself, so I couldn't. This is only logical in your case though. A sub is more aimed at low frequency "sounds" than "effects," and only in the more expensive cases does it do the later very well.

A bass shaker on the other hand is entirely different. Instead of using a big speaker driver to move air, it uses a motor to shake the ground or your chair.

Personally I have heard good things about the buttkicker gamer, and am thinking of getting one as I myself both watch TV and game while sitting in an office(ish) chair.

I have read that music professionals, especially drummers, have also found good use for the buttkicker gamer as well. Some such professionals have written reviews about it here:

Apparently it isn't just a gamers toy like the name implies.

I've seen these go as low as $50 in some cases. If I wasn't preparing to move I might have gotten one by now.

I personally don't think that displayport will make it into the tv room and replace hdmi...

i do. i dont think there are any royalties. not to mention there is a large amount of content protection and ridiculous bandwidth.
