Andhow I cannot see why you'd think it was worth it to buy a whole new mobo for just PCI-E 2.0 and DDRIII, but not 45nm L775 processors? Explain ![]()

well, I wouldn't buy another motherboard if I had the choice. The one that I am using is failing on me
![]() I will get another motherboard but I ain't gonna drop more money for a new processor. Nehalem won't be LGA775. Socket 1366, Socket 1160 and Socket 715 ![]()

So Nehalem will be a much bigger step up from Penryn than what Penryn is from Kentsfield/Conroe? I must admit it seems probable considering the things I've read on around the net.. Oh well it will all depend on when Nehalem is coming out then. I'm hearing second half of 2008, I'm hearing Q4 2008, I'm hearing Q1 2009. Anyway when it comes, I'll be ready to buy that's for sure. Unless some really really badass über case comes out, I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Cooler Master Cosmos Case as well, I'm just in love with that case and it's one of the biggest reasons I want to upgrade. And the watercooling market doesn't seem to go as fast as the CPU/GPU/MOBO/RAM/ market for example, so I'll probably be able to use much of the knowledge I gained on liquid cooling over the past few days eh? ![]() But on the other hand if it isn't a such a big step foward as we think and the Intel's CPU-generation after that will be 32nm as we know, not being compatible even with the upcoming sockets, that would kinda suck as well and in that case and IF the upcoming next-gen Nvidia graphicscard will run fine on X48, I would actually make a small case for my crazy X48/watercooled penryn proposal.. hmm..

probably
![]() I think the only things that will change will be gpu blocks(duh) and the mounting hardware for cpu blocks or nb coolers. Everything else should pretty much stay the same from now until then..

Son of a...
My warranty on the case/LCS is basically useless! Because the liquid cooling system is part of the case I HAVE TO TAKE OUT ALL MY HARDWARE WITHIN THE CASE BEFORE SENDING IT BACK! I cannot send back just the pump, ooohh no that's against regulation, ****! So I basically have two options: Either I bite the bullet and buy an Aquabay M5 which gives me the useless water temperature monitor that doesn't work but also a reservoir with a pump, that way I can replace what I already had for about 400 DKK (~80$ or so). OR I can take all my hardware out, buy a new case and proper water cooling, throw it all in, and sell the brand new unopened Kandalf LCS on auction or something.. Totally unflexible customer support pisses me off. I'm actually not sure what to do right now except I know that the probably most sensible solution would be to buy that Aquabay w. the new pump because it's the cheapest :/

why don't you just buy a new pump? just get a mcp355 to hold you over while you get everything you need for your new build.

eh yeah, at least you won't have to send back the whole case. For what you'd spend in shipping you could buy a new pump

![]() So do you guys know if the G100 (G90 is just a lower nm process of G80 like the 8800GT right?) will require or just benefit from PCI Express 2.0? If I could futureproof me to a good degree now with a DDR3 X38 mobo w. PCI-e 2.0, QX9650 processor with an upcoming purchase of a G100 later this year, I could do that. But if Nehalem is gonna be "teh ****" in the same way Conroe was, and if PCI-e 2.0 will work satisfactory on PCI-e x16 mobos, I might wait it out for Nehalem. It's just an issue for me now of wanting to take advantage of a potential highend water cooling system now in a case..
