Default twinview problem

Hello:
After many hours of trying different things, I'm unable to get Twinview to work. The desktops are the right size, the mouse will go off of the screen to the right, but the main laptop screen will not sync or turn on.

I am on a Toshiba 1955-S805 with an external LCD panel. I am running 2.4.20 under SUSE 8.2 and the latest 4363 Nvidia driver. I have video and GL running fine on the external monitor. I'm attaching my XF86Config and log file. As will be evident from the XF86Config, I've tried many things, including 2 devices, 2 monitors and 2 screens. I've tried putting the twinview options in the screens section and the device section. My current configuration is with two screens, two monitors and one device.

Again, there is video on the external lcd monitor but none on the internal laptop lcd panel. I've tried this with and without the ConnectedMonitor option. I added the line:

options nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=2

to my /etc/modules.conf to get anything to work.

Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

-Gil

attention: some hardware can only display 1 head at a time! just so you know... (especially nForce chipsets)

secondly, there are a lot of threads here that are about tv-out.

and lastly, YOU MUST have only 1 screen, 1 monitor, 1 device for TVOUT.

the tv-out is handled only by the device section!!!

instead use SecondMonitorHorzRefresh and SecondMonitorVertSync to control frequencies of the TV (connectedmonitors "CRT, TV" eg).

please read the README file. there's a whole section how to handle TV-OUT.

important is that you don't use xinerama. use Twinview and TwinviewOrientation. the resulting resolution MUST be the sum of both (eg: 2 times 800x600 gives 1600x600 is you are using the left orientation).

so I would advice you to read that appendix on TV-out again and again.

I haven't tried TV-Out yet. For now, I just want a big desktop across 2 monitors.

This hardware (in fact I read that all current laptop NVidia chips) support this function under Windoze.

it's the same thing, if you have a single device with 2 outputs, you must follow my instructions above...

All Toshiba's since the 1955-s801 do support dual display. I have had this successfully work on the old 4191. I've have yet to have any success with the 4363 set on my toshiba yet. I get a psychedelic pink screen. I wish you luck and if you get it to work please post your XF86Config and setup process for the community to benefit. I'll post mine as soon as I figure out what is going on with my settings.
