Default nVidia GeForce 440 Go on Toshiba 1900-703

Hi there

I've got a wiered problem with my Toshiba 1900-703 with a RedHat Linux 9.0 running.

This laptop has an nVidia GeForce 440 Go 32Mb and when I install the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run and modify the XF86config, when I run the Xserver the screen starts to fade in a white kind of color and I can't get it to work!!( If I try the proped video card (RedHat finds a NVIDIA GeForce 4 (generic) ) My sceen resolutions is limited to 800x600!! I can't set it up 4 1280x1024 like in windows OS(

Can anybody help me out?...pleaseee....

Please replay to: cusumano3@libero.it

I successfully installed the nvidia drivers once on my laptop a Toshiba 1955-s801 but the new drivers fail for me too. It makes my screen go psychidelic. Message me if you figure your's out. Else I'll message you if I find the fix.

Default New Success

I've been able to get X to load now by modifying the /etc/modules.conf.

Add: options nvidia NVreg_Mobile=2

then at prompt: rmmod nvidia
followed by: modprobe nvidia

startx

Only problem is that the screens runs off the display.

Post ...I've nearly done it!

Hi again,

after following your solution I've found the way to make it full screen with a light ofset to the bottom-right..any how

reading the /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA.../README

I found that it is best to also use the

NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 option in the /etc/modules.conf

so now this config file should look like:

option nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=2

-------------
I'm now working on the screen resolutions..
I'll let U know as soon as I can

Ciao Daniele!
