You and everyone else. =P It's a beautiful map, but I'm sorry, as much of a graphics wh0re as I am, the performance here is just inexcusable. 20fps is my limit with this game now with the new hardware I got over the weekend. The main game @ all high settings runs fluid now, 32fps-62fps. When I use the rc3 final hp ultra config, I avg 24-48fps, still playable with this game, never felt a game so fluid @ sucvh a low fps. But this map, I think one spot, looking at a wall, I hit 8 frames. WHOO-HOO. Point is, as nice as it looks, as fun as it may be, how much enjoyment can you get with it, lagging along? Optimizations for teh win. ![]() |

I think the point of it was to show people again what the engine is capable of doing. There is an astonishing amount of longevity this engine and the new Farcry 2 engine have. They've basically made it so that they can build games for 2+ years with little needing to be re-coded the way valve is having to constantnly overhaul their source engine to keep up. Crytek future proofed the engine and this map is showing what (with any luck) we'll see later in the year or next year out of hopefully some new shooter games. As I said, a call of duty game that looked like that would be jaw dropping.

2.) No matter what you say, the polygon count is insane, as stated by someone earlier, next-gen cards would struggle with this. So this maps purpose is to show us what the engine is capable 2 years from now, when we will no longer appreciate it. Brilliant... |

in my opinion cryengine produces the best stills ever seen in a game. period.
they just need to work on that whole "moving pictures" concept. still, i can import these pics into Super Jigsaw Puzzle and have a blast!

Hell I would go as far as saying CE2 will definently be totally unrivaled the next year, chances are 50/50 of a game engine reaching it's visual quality in the next 2 years.

Besides Dunia, I don't see any other engine coming close to CryEngine2 in the forseeable future. Not even this Project Offset.
It's not like 2004 where there were three powerful and equally impressive engines (source, Cryengine, Doom3). CryEngine2 just completely owns.
