Looking for a Q9550

[Dual Core Joe]

I was going to update my system from the Core Duo E6600 to a Quad 9650. After comparing the Q9650 to the Q9550 Ive decided to SAVE 500+ dollars and go with the 9550. The only difference between the two seems to be clock speed. Well hell Im going to OC it anyways. The trouble is I cant find one. Any of you guys have a place to go that has these in stock?

They aren't in stock yet. Intel hasn't launched them officially.

Roadmap: Limited quantity

According to industry sources, Intel Quad core 45nm will show up its face only in March. Even then Intel will be able to ship it in limited quantities and of course, we are talking about the desktop chips. Intel is currently shipping a limited quantities of Xeon based 45nm quad cores and a high end 9650 3.0GHz quad core part.

The current plan is to fill the gap with 65nanometre chips and survive until the 45nm Yorkfield mainstream quad cores comes in game. Intel plans a limited availability of 45nm Yorkfields in March, but this will be enough to claim to investors that they started shipping them in Q1.

With AMD who doesn’t really have the parts to compete makes Intel comfortable and gives a giant some time to rest.

Don't forget the unlocked multiplier. Sadly, don't expect more then 3.85GHz (453 x 8.5) out of a Q9550. The chip itself can do 4GHz+ on air but the 8.5 multi will hold you back, unlike that of the QX9650.
Idk, maybe you're fine with 3.85 but I wouldn't want to be kept under 4GHz on 45nm, given their capabilities.

Waiting for these new CPU's is killing me but I can't buy anything since the mobo is still in the box. D:

I'll probably be getting a Q9450 and I'm sure I definitely won't be disappointed since I'm going from an Opteron 185.
